The Director General, Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute (NBRRI), Professor Danladi Matawal says the focus of the organisation is achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG).
According to Matawal, NIBRRI is using the Nigerian Construction as a tool to address the critical issues and challenges in the industry and proffer solutions that will enhance performance.
He stated Friday in Abuja at a briefing.
He said the 2018 NBRRI international conference theme is Sustainable development goals and the Nigerian Construction Industry, challenges and the way forward.
The 2018 NBRRI international conference is scheduled to commence on Tuesday 12th June and end on Thursday 14th June 2018, and it will witness paper presentations, exhibition and provide a platform for the review of the impact of the present construction materials and methods on the environment and proffer actionable framework for implementation of SDG’s in the Construction industry.
Professor Matawal added that sub-themes of the 2018 conference includes environmental sustainability and the built environment, community driven and heavy construction technologies, disaster resilient construction methods amongst others.
Professor Matwal while appraising the previous conferences held in the past seven years, stated that the issue of building collapse, road pavement failure, housing challenges, local content has been addressed through the conference, and positive impact has been witnessed especially the reduction in building collapse in Nigeria.
