UNICEF funded project Sanitation Hygiene and Water in Nigeria has offered to execute water project worthy N6 billion in birnin Kudu local government area of Jigawa state under conditions.
The Managing Director Rural and Water Supply and sanitation (RUWASS) Engr Labaran Adamu revealed this while he visited the council chairman at the local government secretariat.
He told the council that, SHWN has selected three local government area in the state namely Birninkudu, Roni and Birniwa to compete for the project.
The MD who was represented by Emgr Kamaluddeen Ahmed explained that, any local government among the three that excels in environmental hygiene particularly having access to latrine toilet in any family and provision of soap or ash to wash hand after toilet will win the project.
“A teem will make random sampling in each local government and asses the level of compliance to environmental and personal hygiene , and will finally present it’s report to the committee for executing the water project at the local government that emerge winner.
He then present the guidelines to the council chairman and assured him that, the whole process will be transparent.
In his respond, the Birninkudu local govern$ent chairman Alhaji Sani Audu vow to utilized all the available human resource for public enlightenment to strengthen the personal and environment cleanness in the area.
He said they will mobilize the workers to go for door to door campaign against open defacation, promoting personal hygiene in over 500 communities around the area.
“We will do everything possible to strength the culture of public and personal hygiene among our people not only for winning the project but also to ensure a healthier and productive society” the chairman said.
