The Chairman, State Independent Electoral Commission, SIECOM, Kaduna State, Dr. Binta Saratu Dikko has appealed to people of the state, to exercise patience over the recent postponement of Local Government Elections.
Dr. Binta Dikko, who made the appeal, while fielding questions from Newsmen in Kafanchan on Wednesday said the postponement, was necessary to allow the state House of Assembly to amend relevant sections of the law that would fully permit the use of electronic voting machine in the said election.
The Chairman, said once the law is amended, the election would be rescheduled and citizens will elect new council members of their various Local Governments.
Dr. Binta Sarah Dikko, however expressed satisfaction over wide acceptance of the use of the electronic voting machine, the state Government seeks to introduce as received and assured it will guarantee fair, free and credible elections .
She had earlier briefed stake-holders in Jema’a and Kaura Local Government Areas, during a sensitization meeting on the workings of the newly introduced electronic voting machines.
