A newly registered political party, the Advanced Peoples Democratic
Alliance (APDA), has called on the political class to use the 50th
golden jubilee celebration of Rivers State to put the state first and
return the state to the people.
This is as Rivers State governor, Chief Ezebunwo Nyesom Wike has
declared that his administration will continue to promote the
independence of the judiciary for the sustained growth of the state.
Interim Chairman of APDA in the state, Pastor Warigbani Ezekiel, who
addressed journalists in Port Harcourt yesterday, said the party sees
the golden jubilee as a golden opportunity for the state government to
embark on massive empowerment programs and opportunities for youths
from the 23 local government areas of the state.
Ezekiel said, “50 years down the line, Rivers people have every reason
to celebrate. The journey has been full of challenges and we have made
remarkable progress. It is indeed a great and epochal event in the
life of the state.
“The Golden Jubilee celebration therefore offers us the opportunity
for stocktaking and also the opportunity to look ahead and march into
the future with dignity and hope.
“APDA sees the Golden Jubilee as a challenge to advance the economic
independence of Rivers State, especially with declining oil revenue,
and also improve access to public services as well as create an
atmosphere of peace, unity and prosperity for Rivers people. ELANZANEWS.M
