Presenting the award to the lawmaker in Abuja at the weekend, the national coordinator of the initiative, James Okoronkwo, said the lawmaker’s selection for the award was in recognition of his efforts at improving revenue generation in the maritime sector through
“We present this award to you in recognition of your efforts towards improving service delivery in the maritime industry. We have observed that your oversight functions have improved the revenue generation in the sector. Before now, we knew what used to happen in NIMASA, but the story has now changed,” Okoronkwo said.
However, Bago in his acceptance speech, appreciated the gesture, which he said was unprecedented. “I have seen a lot of awards, but this one is very important and dear to me. On behalf of the committee, I want to say we’re most appreciative.”
