A Non-government Organization (NGO), Arrida Relief Foundation of Nigeria (ARFON) has empowered about 500 women in Kaduna State.
According to the NGO’s management, empowering women, particularly the girl child is the surest way to reducing poverty in the society.
Speaking during the programme/Ramadan lecture, an Islamic cleric in Kaduna, Mal Abubakar Gwauran Namaye said until women are empowered or assisted, the quest for reducing poverty in the country will remain elusive.
Another Islamic cleric, Imam Malam Buhari says feeding and empowering the less privilege in the month of Ramadan attracts a lot of reward.
The president of ARFON, Hajiya Rabi Salisu Ibrahim while speaking, said apart from providing food items to the less privilege, added that the organization has also provided medical assistance and educational materials to the women and children.
Rabi who called on the Federal, State and Local Government authorities to come to the aid of the less privilege, added that she provided Millets, Sugar and Rice to orphans and widows.
She said some of the IDP camps in Maraban Jos in Kaduna State have also been help, calling on well meaning individuals to do same.
In a welcome address, Malam Sulaiman enjoined wealthy individuals and organisations to be catalysts of help and assistance.
