Maritime University Has Built Confidence In Buhari’s Govt – Ijaw Youths Leader

Out-gone president of the umbrella body of Ijaw youths worldwide, the
Ijaw Youths Council (IYC) has described as “confidence building” the
decision by the President Muhammadu Buhari administration to re-open
the Martime University in Delta state, the release of the detained
Niger Delta indigenes and the activation of the development capacity
for the region.

According to Udengs Eradiri, though the decision by the IYC under his
leadership to continually engaged the federal government and the
Buhari administration was misconstrued by some politicians, the
positive engagement policy of the IYC has contributed to the needed
change of style by the present administration.

Eradiri whose tenure ended on March 3, in a media chat at the IYC
National Secretariat, Yenagoa, listed his achievements to include
setting up of a functional secretariat, employment opportunities for
youths and the restoration of the sanity and confidence to IYC on
issues of peace and infrastructural development in the region.

According to Eradiri, “one of the greatest achievements as president
of the apex Ijaw youth body is the return and reopening of the
Maritime University, Okerenkoko Delta state. We were able to
ultimately achieve the return and the reopening of the Maritime
University and for me that is the greatest achievement.”

“We want to commend the release of Niger Delta youths who were
arrested for their agitation in the region, also applaud President
Muhammadu Buhari and Acting President Yemi Osibanjo for living up to
their expectations in the Niger Delta.” ELANZANEWS. M
