The conduct of the local government elections in Kaduna State yesterday Satruday has been turned to drama scenes following the disappearance of some returning officers.
Elanza News gathered that even though the conduct of the election was said to have been peaceful, the delay in the announcement of the result has heightened tension in some areas.
It was gathered that the result of elections in Kauru and Zangon local governments have been announced with the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) winning.
In Kachia and Sanga LGAs, Elanza News gathered that the electoral officers ranaway.
In Kagarko, it was gathered that APC won but the result is been disputed. The electoral officer for Sanga LGA was later captured by youth who insisted the election results must be announced.
Residents say some of the electoral officers are refusing to carry out their jobs. “Many are ‘missing’ with the result sheets that were yet to be filled,” a resident said.
He said the LGAs affected include: Jema’a, Sanga, Kachia,Kajuru and Chikun.
Reports from Ikara, Makarfi, Soba, Kaduna South, Igabi, Birnin Gwari and others were said to be also similar.
