The Newly elected Deans and Sub-deans of schools of the Kaduna College of Education Gidan Waya in Kaduna State have been inaugurated to run the affairs of the institution for the next two years.
Addressing staff of the institution during the inaugural ceremony at board room, the Administration, Professor Emmanuel Joseph Chom Charged them to be prepared to take important decisions that will take the college to the next level of development.
According to the Administrator “use the Position God gave you to add value to the system and not witch hunt anyone. Try to leave legacies that others and posterity will remember and emulate you.”
Urging the new Deans and Sub-Deans to carry all staff and students along in the discharge of their duties, professor Chom tasked them to have the fear of God; hence, their service should be devoid of social, ethnic or religious bias, knowing that they will account for their stewardship before the Supreme Creator (God) in the Day of Judgment.
Advising the out-going Deans and sub-deans with appreciation for their service, the Administrator enjoined them to avail their wisdom to their successors, to enable them succeed in their tasks.
The Administrator challenged all staff of the college to aspire to further their education and obtain higher degrees to better the educational standard of the institution and also meet current requirements of National University Commission (NUC) and National Commission of colleges of Education (NCCE).
Responding on behalf of other elected Deans and Sub-Deans, after oath of office, the Dean of early childhood and child education/Primary Education Department, Mr. Jatau Markus Ericson assured that they will bring their wealth of experience to bear in the discharged of their responsibilities. However he applauded the Administrator for keeping the aims and objectives of institution, through seeking useful advice.
Mr. Ericson who is also the chairman of the Deans also appealed to the Administrator, to give them listening ears and continuous capacity building on leadership, to enable them succeed. He called on his colleagues and the college community to shun rumors peddling,black and violence to make the college a conducive teaching/learning environment
New Deans inaugurated include, Mr Markus Jatau Ericson- Chairman of Deans/Dean school of early Child care Education/Primary Education; Mrs. Anna Sarki – School of General Studies; Mr. Wakili Angulu – Dean School of Secondary Education, science programme and Dr. Mrs Victoria Leo Gambo – Dean school of Secondary Education, Languages programmed. Others are Mr. Basuwa Aroster – Dean School of Secondary Education, Arts and Science Programmes, and Mrs Doshiya Barwa – Dean school of Secondary Education, Vocational and technical Education Programmes.
In another development, the Administrator, Professor Emmanuel Joseph Chom has condoled with the family of Mr. Joseph Gajere over the demise of the immediate past Provost of the College, Mrs. Hope Joseph Gajere, whose death was announced in the early hours of Tuesday, after a protracted illness. Speaking at the Gajere’s Home at Garaje Kafanchan, when he led staff on condolence visit, the Administrator described death as an unavoidable exit for all mortals. He prayed for the repose of her gentle soul and for God to grant the family and the college community the fortitude to bear her loss.
In a similar condolence visit, the Provost of the Kaduna State College of Nursing Kafanchan Mrs. Sarah Baba and her staff described Late Mrs. Hope Gajere as a mother indeed, who will be remembered for legacies of hard work and discipline
