The Kaduna State Commissioner for Education, Professor Andrew Jonathan Nok is dead.
The erudite academic died in the early hours of Tuesday. There is, however, no official information on the cause of his death. A close source to the family said he died after a brief illness.
It was gathered that he was on admission at an Abuja hospital over undisclosed ailment and was discharged last week.
The former lecturer and Dean of Faculty of Sciences, Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, was a recipient of the Nigerian National Order of Merit Award in the Science category.
He was the brain behind the discovery the gene responsible for an enzyme which causes sleeping sickness.
Until his death, Prof Nok, as the Kaduna State Commissioner of Education, Science and Technology, worked hard to reversed the falling standard of education in Kaduna. (Forefront)
