Jema’a: I’ll Pursue Peace For Development- Averik

Jema`a Local Government PDP flag bearer for the chairmanship position, Mr. Peter Danjuma Averik, has said that he would pursue peace, the foundation of development of any society, to lay a solid foundation for the advancement of the area.

Speaking in an interview, with our Kafanchan correspondent, on Thursday, the P D P flag bearer said segregative treatment in handling peace building process, especially the herders/farmers conflict, by the leadership, was responsible for the lingering insecurity in the area.
According to him , when voted into office, he would conduct town hall meetings with the various tribes, religions, traditional institutions, Civil societies, Development Associations as well as the leadership of the various strata of society, to find lasting solution to the lingering conflicts that often led to violent crisis’ in the area.
Mr. Peter Danjuma Averik said his vision is to bring about having a peaceful and prosperous Jema`a Local Government, offering people opportunities to utilize their talents/skills in various fields, as their patriotic contributions to the well being and prosperity of all citizens.
‘’ My dear, beloved people of Jema`a Local Government, I value you and count, value and solicit for your support and prayers, so that together, we take our Local Government to the next level of development. Therefore, make sure the May 12, 2018 Local Government elections are peaceful, just and credible’’, Mr. Averik appealed.
Debunking the notion from quarters that he knows little of Jema`a Local Government which will place him in a disvantage position to steer successfully the area to the promise land, Averik said ‘’ I am the most qualified of all the contestants, considering the fact that my parents and my wife, are natives. I was born, brought up and pursued my primary and secondary education in my village, Kogum River and Jagindi, I had my post secondary education in Kaduna and Zaria, other professional course and working experiences were in Lagos, Port Harcourt and overseas’’.
The P.D.P chairmanship flag bearer stated further that ‘’ I was born in to a farming family and community which till date I am practicing, that is why I said, having the home, Lagos, Port Harcourt and overseas training and working experiences place me above other contenders, who lack such qualifications.’’
Congratulating the press for celebrating World Press Freedom Day, Averik urged them to employ developmental journalism in their reportage, enlighten the public to cultivate the spirit of love , justice, truth, peaceful co-existence, tolerance and forgiveness, for the well being and prosperity of the human race .
He called on government and employers for better wages for journalists as well as give them their free access to information which will deepen democracy and enhance good governance and protection of human rights.
Averik advocated the United Nation to place stiff punishment on persons, governments or nations found to have harm or kill any pressman for reporting or exposing their miss deeds.
