The Chairman elect, Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State, Hon Peter Danjuma Averik has extol the virtues of Nigerians who fought for the enthronement of democracy.
In a Democracy Day message, Averik said those who fought for democracy should not be forgotten and called on Nigerians not to give up on the present challenges.
He said the challenges Nigerians are facing today are summontable.
“I wish to congratulate Nigerians especially the good people of Jema’a LGA on yet another democracy day celebration.”
“Our nation’s democratic journey has witnessed military incursions into our political space, but with sustained pressure and popular clamour for good governance, ensured the enthronement of democratic ideals into our polity to a very large extent.”
“Our quest for a better society cannot be over emphasised. Our democracy is pregnant with uncertainties, but we must have a collective resolve to go into the labour room with hope and high expectations of a favourable outcome,” Averik said in a statement sent to Elanza News.
On the people who fought for the enthronement of Nigeria’s democracy, Averik prayed God to richly bless them and their families.
“May God richly bless those who laid their lives and people of great courage that sacrificed in no small measure in ensuring that our nation remains a single united entity.”
“However, the magnitude of our challenges, we must not give up or stand aloof and stare at such challenges. We must be brave enough to ensure that such challenges are converted into greatness. As we mark this year’s democracy day, I urge us to live in peace with one another so as to actualise our collective will for a decent and better society,” the statement added.
