People’s Democratic Party, PDP, raised alarm over Gov. Nasiru El-rufai uncovered plans to rig the 2019 general election in Kaduna State, following an allege meeting with INEC officials on Sunday night.
The party chairman, Hon. Felix Hassan Hyat made this disclosure at a press conference in Kaduna, today.

Hyat called on the electorates, security agencies, observers and the international community to focus their attention on the build up to the Gubernatorial Election in the state.
The party chairman also stressed that, El-rufai has recruited vigilante known as “Kato da Gora”, many of whom have questionable records.

“They are only being positioned to be used as ‘legitimate thugs’ during the election, despite and contrary to the fact that the outfit is not recognized by INEC as part of the security apparatus. This is also hinged on the role they played during the last Local Government Council election. ”

PDP reprimanded APC of “allegations that there is mass mobilization and importation of foreign mercenaries from within Nigeria and neighbouring countries to cause mayhem to facilitate rigging.”

Adding that, ” the governor and his party, the APC compiled, proposed posting and submitted to INEC lists of all Ad-hoc Staff in the 23 local government areas, wards and polling units to facilitate his victory through the back door.”

PDP alleged APC of deduction of monies from LGA accounts to bribe INEC Staff to facilitate rigging and equally blamed El-rufai of raising false alarm on alleged but, unfounded security challenges in the state to justify the deployment of security personnel to be used to intimidate voters thereby paving way for altering or cancellations of results in areas he is very unpopular.

PDP accused El-rufai of conspiracy with the National Security Adviser who accepted El-rufai’s unfounded narration of threat to security without just cause, whereas the NSA equally has vested interest since his in-law is the APC candidate for Lere Federal Constituency of Kaduna state.
“It is equally on record that the Governor told a group of clergymen in his last Sallah visit that violence takes place every four years and this is clearly to build up a hypothesis for the execution and unleashing of terror on suspecting citizens with a view to scarring them stiff so that that he (El-rufai) and his hatched men will have and easy ride through the elections.”
