Gunmen last night killed one person and injured another in a renewed attack on Banono community in the Southern part of Kaduna State, locals say.
Elanza News reports that the community was attacked last year with about eight people killed.
Locals blamed the Sunday evening attack on Fulani herdsmen.
“The last year’s attack which claimed the lives of eight people was carried out by Fulani herdsmen,” a resident of the area who gave his name as Philimon, told Elanza News by a telephone while narrating the Sunday’s attack.
Philimon said the remains of the local that was killed has been taken to the police station in the the area for proper documentation.
Banono is under Kufana District in Kajuru LGA of Kaduna State.
“If the government did not quail this pockets of attacks as we are seeing the signs now, it could degenerate to serious crisis,” a security expert said, apparently reffering to the genesis of the crisis that led to the killing of over 880 people in 2016.
The killing of over 880 people in Southern Kaduna between 2016 and early 2017 alone as documented by Catholic Diocese of Kafanchan, it was gathered, started like the guerilla attack that took place in Shanono community in Kufana District on Sunday.
