Group Accuses PDP Of Spreading Falsehood Over 30,000 Polling Units Claims

A civil society group under the aegis of Citizen Centre for Democratic Governance urged Nigerians to disregard claims by the PDP that the INEC has create additional “30,0000 illegal polling units” in the country.

According to a statement by its national coordinator, Osagbemi Anthony, the group described the statement credited to the PDP spokesman, Kola Ologbondiyan, as fallacious with the intent to caste aspersions on INEC.

He said INEC is empowered by law to create polling units and hence wondered why such should be described as illegal by the PDP.

He said several entries totaling 3,789 have been sent in by 25 states across the country, calling on INEC to create new polling units.

According to him this is normal giving the rate of the country’s population growth, conflict, and economic reasons that lead to the creation of new settlement which should be featured in the 2019 election.

He stated, “Whatever idea the PDP had in mind before coming up with this magnitude of misleading piece is not clear, but one thing that is clear is the fact that in an attempt to take back power, the PDP will do everything a desperate group can do in other to achieve their aim.

“Truly, we have seen the handwriting of a desperate political party on the wall and we therefore urge Nigerians to disregard every fallacious account given by the PDP in other to create the picture of a disorganized and incompetent INEC. While the PDP were busy cooking this lie, it is a shame that they overused words that made nonsense of the whole statement.

“Indeed, several entries totaling 3,789 have been sent in by 25 states across the country, calling on INEC to create new polling units.
