Foundation Trains 2000 Youths On Entrepreneurship In Benue

Over 2000 youths, dràwn from 276 council wards of Benue State, are to benefit from the skill acquisition training initiated by the wife of the Benue State government, Eunice Ortom, under her pet project, Eunice Spring of Life Foundation (ESLF).

Addressing the youths who converged in Makurdi for the training, Mrs Ortom explained that two youths were selected from each council ward, for the training, adding that she was committed to supporting the youths to achieve their desired dreams through skill acquisition.

Mrs Ortom, who was represented by the Senior Special Advider to the governor on administration and ICT, Daniel Gbabo, disclosed that the training is a tripartite agreement between ESLF, Trainers and the Trainees in five trade areas of Tailoring, Shoe making, Hair Dressing, Baking, Fashion and designing. She also explained that those for baking and confectioneries will at least receive the training for three months while those for tailoring and other areas will at least train for six months.

In a welcome address, the programme manager, ESLF, Tine Agernor, who said the foundation is focused to the welfare of the Benue child as its priority, urged the youths to use the skills acquired to also help others to be self employed even as he commended the youths for the decision to own their lives.

The training, according to Agernor, is a follow up training meant for youths entrepreneurship and empowerment to help curb social vices among youths with a theme “Made in Benue is possible ”

“This training will help Benue youths to acquire skills outside
their education to build their capacity economically to be self
employed ”

Also speaking, the Director of Youths Development in the Bureau for Youths and Sports Development, Beatrice Shomkegh, described the training as apt, saying youths empowerment is all about transformation and what you can offer back to the society.

She urged participants to to be patient within the time frame and make use of the available opportunity, saying nothing good comes easy.
