Regimentary punishments have been meted out on no fewer than fifty students of the Federal Government Girls’ College, Ibusa, near Asaba, (FGGC) following their alleged involvement in lesbianism.
It was reliably gathered that the school authorities may have taken the decision to suspend to students to ensure that such act does not take a root in the college, especially as some on lines were already reporting the alleged incident as gossip.
Investigation revealed that the suspected students, some of whom in SSI & SSII have allegedly been involved in closed door lesbianism during night fall in the recent times before the bubble burst. They were alleged to have been deeply scandal as in most cases, during school hours, display the act before their teachers especially the female teachers.
Sources close to the parents of many of the students told our reporter on condition of anonymity that a number of the female students were allegedly caught by one of their teachers (name withheld) who immediately raised the alarm that attracted the school authorities to set up a committee that investigated and found the students culpable of the act.
The committee chairman who did not want her name by the print said “we caught many of the students in our findings and we submitted report to the school authorities”
A parent, Mr. Isichie Okafor who spoke to our reporter on the alleged sex scandal, however commanded the school authorities in its decision to suspend the students adding that it would serve as a lesson to others. “We cannot fold our hands as parents to see our daughters in such act actions must be taken”. However, angered by the decision of the school authorities to suspend the student, some of the parents have challenged the authorities to prove the allegation, positing that the accused students stand innocent until there is sufficient evidence that they committed the offence, adding that the allegation as it stands now is blackmail against the students and the decision of the school authority to suspect them in null and void.
Contacted yesterday on telephone, the Principal of the school, who refused to disclose her name, did not say ‘no’ or’ yes’ to the allegation but said, the authorities of Federal Government Girls’ College, Ibusa, have the powers and right to deal with all cases of discipline of its students and such is not subjected to public or media consumption.
“I want to state here that, no parent or students of this school staged any protest against the school authority. When a student commits an offence, we have our own internal measures to discipline such a child and, if need be, we may communicate the relevant ministry. “I won’t discuss the disciplinary measures taken by the school authority against any student in the media. So far, we have called the parents and we told them what is involved and so far, we have not suspended any students,” the principal added.
