An appeal court sitting in Yola, Adamawa State today discharged and acquitted former governor of Adamawa State, Barr Bala James Ngilari over wrongful procurement of vehicles meant for state use.
While reading the two hour Judgment, Justice OF Omoleye based her verdict on ‘wrongful’ five count charges used in convicting the appellant (Bala) by the Adamawa State High Court presided by Justice Nathan Musa.
According her, Bala is not a procurement officer and the lower court did not give him a fair hearing and therefore is ”discharged and acquitted.”
The former governor, Bala, while reacting to the verdict, said he thank God almighty for setting him free. “In everything, we should give thanks to God who knows his life from the beginning to the end.
”I thank God for all the things he has been doing to me. God has proven that he is a God who knows all things,” he said.
Council to Bala, Barr Obed Wadzani thank the presiding judge adding that she has rekindle hope to the Nigerian masses by upholding the rule of law in the Nigerian constitution.
”My client has been vindicated over the crime he knows nothing about. Thanks to all Nigerians who prayerfully stood by us to the very end. It’s now over,” he said.
