The Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) has called on government to do more on security in thhe southern part of Kaduna state.
The Archdean of the Church in Randa Conference, Very Reverend Esla A Allu made the call during his speech at the conclusion of the Church’s annual conference on Sunday at Randa Conference Headquarters, Gwantu, Sanga local government area of Kaduna state.
The Conference with the theme: “Pursue, Overtake And Recover All,” which commenced on Thursday, brought together all the Church leaders and the laities from Randa Conference.
Speaking on the relative peace presently experienced in Southern Kaduna which has afforded the Church the opportunity to host the annual conference, Rev Allu said, “I would like to use this forum to thank the federal and state governments for deploying security personnel to our area. I have observed that since the coming of the security personnel, there is more calmness than before.”
“The rate of robbery and other criminal activities have reduced. We wish to strongly appeal to government at all levels to do more to protect the lives and properties of citizens of this great country. I call on the federal government to establish an army barracks in Sanga local government,” Allu said.
The secretary, Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) in Southern Kaduna, Pastor Michael Maikarfi who was a guest at the conference, called on the Church to remember its place as a pioneer in the area and be a pacesetter in living the christian life.
Maikarfi who urged parents to give attention to proper child-training and do well in contributing to community building, asked all christians to be peace lovers and law abiding.
The Evangelical Reformed Church of Christ (ERCC) which was established in Randa in 1917 is the largest church denomination in Sanga LGA and most parts of Nasarawa state.
