Community members in Logo have alleged that they have found the remains of one of the four policemen who were declared missing after an encounter with Fulani herdsmen terrorists at Adzege community, Logo Local Government areas of Benue State about two weeks ago.
According to one of the sources in the area who simply gave his name as Liamdoo said, the decomposing remains of the policeman was discovered on Saturday by locals near Adzege in Tombo Council Ward of the local government area.
The body which had decomposed beyond recognition was said to have been packed in a black polytene bag and conveyed in a white hilux van to Makurdi, the Benue state capital.
Recalls that two out of the four policemen who were declared missing during a headcount after the herdsmen attack were later found alive while the remains of the third policeman, a non commission officer (NCO) was recovered a few days later with his eyes, nose and ears removed,even as the search for the fourth policemen was on till the latest discovery.
But when contacted, Commissioner of Police in charge of Benue State, CP Fatai Owoseni described the alleged discovery of the policeman’s remains as mere rumor stressing that it was not yet clear if the decomposing body that was found is that of the missing policeman.
“Yes, we heard the rumor but we are not sure whether the body that found is that of the missing policeman,” Owoseni stated.
