The Bajju Development Association (BADA) has commended the Federal and Kaduna state government for siting an army formation in Attachab, Ungwan Rimi District in Zangon Kataf LGA.
In a letter sent to Kaduna state government which dated 8th Feb 2017 and copied the Chief of Army staff, GOC 1st Mechanized Division Kaduna, Commissioner of Police, DSS, Sen Danjuma La’ah, Hon Sunday Marshal Katung, Hon Irimiya Kantiok, Zangon Kataf LGA chairman, Chief of Kagoro, Emir of Jama’a, Kpok Gwong and SOKAPU, the group said while it welcome the development, proper identity of the land must be made.
“While we wish to commend the effort of the Federal and state governments in bringing about lasting solution to the Southern Kaduna incessant killings, it is important to put the records straight to tell the relevant authorities as to the true identity of the site.”
“That the site known as Bakin Kogi (Aattachab) is located in Ungwan Rimi District of Bajju Chiefdom in Zangon Kataf LGA. That the said area has never being under Jema’a LGA nor Jema’a emirate council. So we observed that it is not only erroneous but a clear affront to the nationality of the Bajju people which is a clear indication that the Bajju people are held in contempt both by Kaduna and the Federal governments,” the letter stated.
The letter further reads: “That this is an attempt to deny owners of the land their entitlement accruable to them and it is on record that the said land has not been acquired as required by law. So we view this as. An attempt to take the property by force contrary to the 1999 constitution as amended.”
“While we appreciate His Excellency the Executive Governor of Kaduna state, we wish to state categorically that the area does not belong to Jama’a Emirate and Jema’a LGA. Our demand therefore is that the relevant authorities should correct their records and also liaise with the Bajju Traditional institution alongside the Zangon Kataf Local government authority for proper acquisition to avoid confusion and chaos.”
Meanwhile, the Bajju Development Association (BADA) has condemned in strong term, the destruction of the army formation in southern Kaduna.
In a letter issued to Kaduna state governor and the chief of army staff yesterday, the association said: “We wish to refer you to our earlier letter dated 8th February 2017 in which the above Association express it support and welcome the siting of the military base.”
“After we returned from the submission of the letter we received report that the said military based foundation has been destroyed.”
“With the above association, felt it is necessary to write to make the position of BADA and the entire Bajju people known to you.”
According to the letter, “That we outrightly condemn in strong terms; the destruction of the military base. That the act we believe was done to undermine governments effort to restoring lasting peace to the area of southern Kaduna.
“That, this act is not only to frustrate government effort but a calculated attempt to discredit the Bajju people thereby portraying us as a violent community that does not welcome peace and development.”
“Once more, we wish to categorically state, that the Bajju people fully support every effort and move by the government to ensure safety of life and property by stationing the military base in our community. The Bajju development Association will do it best to assist and work with government were necessary to facilitate the completion of the project,” the association said in the letter. ELANZANEWS.M
