A two term house of Representatives member, Isah Ashiru Kudan has emerged the winner of the Sunday’s primary election of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Kaduna State .
Ashiru polled 1,330 to defeat his closed rival, Sen Suleiman Hunkuyi who polled 564 and Sani Sadi who came third with 560 votes.
Former governor of the state, Mukhtar Ramalan Yero came forth with 36 votes while Shuaibu Idris Mikati came fifth with 16 votes.
Earlier, two aspirants stepped down while voting was ongoing.
In his acceptance speech, Isa Ashiru said he will never betray the trust bestowed on him adding that he will be a worthy ambassador in the conduct of his public affairs if elected as governor.
He said they will restore the party back to winning spree in 2019 adding that the primary election was one phase.
He said the next step is the campaigns from house to house in other to reclaim the government house in 2019.
He said even though the ruling party won’t give it easily, Ashiru added that with unity in the PDP, the office is up for them to grab.
The candidate who said the battle is not for him alone, saluted his ‘friends,’ in the contest for a good fight.
Ashiru said he was not better than the other candidates who have good credentials.
“There is no winner, no vanquished,” Ashiru declared while calling for more unity in the party.
“I will lead with your support,” the PDP candidate said adding that their destiny is in their hands.
“I do not see failure,” Ashiru declared adding that if the incumbent governor of Kaduna State is allow to spend more than a year, the state will be worse than what they saw in the last three years.
