In pursuance of its mandate, the management of the Zangon Kataf Local Government, in Kaduna State has embarked on staff verification exercise of its Education Department, with a view to decongesting over staffing in schools.
Administrator of the Local Government, Mrs. Felicia Kyomson, stated this while answering questions from journalists on Wednesday in her office, in Zonkwa.
Mrs. Felicia Kyomson said the exercise was to ensure proper distribution of teachers to all schools in the area.
She explained that the staffing if left unchecked, some schools, especially those in rural areas, would be without enough teachers, while schools in urban centres, would be over staffed, which will affect the revamping efforts of the education sector by the Government.
Mrs Kyomson revealed that the staff verification exercised will also be carried out in other departments of the Local Government, with the aim of ascertaining the entire work force for development planning.
She called on all staff to give the verification Team, Maximum support and cooperation to guarantee the attainment of desired objectives.
However, a cross section of teachers interviewed expressed reservation that the staff verification exercise, one of many in recent times, might turn out becoming an avenue for some losing their jobs.
