14 Killed, Others Sustain Injuries As Gunmen Attack Southern Kaduna

About 14 people have been reported killed while 26 others sustained various degree of injuries following an attack on Southern Kaduna communities. 
Elanza News reports that last night, gunmen attacked Ungwar Pah II- Gwandara- Jagindi in Godogodo Chiefdom of Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna state which led to the lost of 14 lives. 
At the time of filling this report, five dead bodies were deposited at the morgue of Sir Ibrahim Yakowa General Hospital Kafanchan, a place where 21 injured persons suffering from various degrees of machete cuts, were receiving treatment.
Eye witnesses interviewed at the hospital said nine corpses of victims of the attack were still in Jagindi.
The eyes witness explained further that at about 8:00pm, community members were rounding up prayers during a celebration of a married couple when unknown gunmen opened fire.
“They shot indiscriminately before leaving the venue unchallenged, ” the eyes witness said. 
The Vice chairman, Jema’a Local Government, Hon. Milkah Ngboni, on instruction from the chairman, Hon. Peter Danjuma Averik, accompanied by senior personnel of various security agencies in the area, visited the hospital to assess the situation.
Ngboni who confirmed the death of five people and the wounded, said he was travelling to Jagindi to confirm the number of casualties in that location.
The Vice Chairman who appealed to residents of the area against reprisals, urged them to remain calm and law abiding.
He assured that security personnel have been drafted to the affected village to fish out the perpetrators of the dastardly act. 
Joseph Baba alias Major, and Reverend David Ajeye, Senior and Legislative Aides to Senator Danjuma Tella La’ah, the representative of the Senator representing Kaduna South Senatorial District were also on an assessment visit to the hospital.
Joseph Baba said Senator La’ah has directed them to assess the dead and the wounded person and report back to him immediately.
While sympathizing with victims and relatives of those who lost loved ones, Baba urged the youth to remain law abiding and allow government to take appropriate measures to arrest those behind the heinous act.
He revealed that Senator Danjuma Tella La’ah would be assisting in the burial of the dead and treatment of those injured. 
Also, officials of Mercy Corps, Community Peace Partnership (CPP), Jema’a and Kaduna state Peace Commission and other Civil Society Organizations working in the area for the sustenance of peace building process were on hand to assess the situation.
They called on the people of Jema’a and environs against contemplating reprisal, but urged them to remain calm and support the security, government and their organizations in unveiling those who are behind destabilization of peace of the society.
It would be recalled that recently, some people were attacked and killed at Kagom River village in Godogodo Chiefdom.
